So after several days of rehearsals I finally got to do something. For load out each of us on the touring crew are given 2-4 local crew people to help us. Things were a little sloppy this first time, but I think I got a plan to make things go smoother with my stuff. Once everything is packed up, we make sure everything gets in to the truck and is secured for travel. Even if other departments are still working, once the audio dept. is finished, we get to leave. Luckily the 1st 2 semis on load-out are audio and band instruments, which means we get out of there first! This show has a total of 8 semis full of equipment and 5 crew buses. There was supposed to be 4 buses, but they added a sponsor bus so it won't be so crowded. Each bus will end up having 8-9 guys. Fun.
7am flight home this morning. I had to get a ride at 5am. Ouch. Found out the town car service was the exact same price as taking a cab so I went to the airport in style. I also found out the tour reimburses cab rides to and from the airport. Thanks Joseph, good to know. Darin works at the Lexington airport and luckily was getting off work about the time I landed. Home sweet home. It'll be good to have a few days off. I'll fly to NJ on Wednesday, setup and rehearsal day on Thursday, then first show in Holmdel on Friday. Im interested to see the audience reaction to the show. It should be awesome.
Taking off in Dallas, Cowboy stadium is the white dot furthest away.
sign up for every airline frequent flyer number you can get! but it seems like you will be living on a bus like submarine for a couple of months.
