Well I made it safe and sound. No problems on the plane ride except we had to wait to board in Dallas because they needed to "clean" one of the seats. Don't think it was mine.
The 25 minute cab ride to the hotel was $55!! I learned my lesson. Busses are the way to go here. I figured out I could get to the hotel in about 40 minutes for $1.50. I think I know how I'm getting back.
Still thinking it's eastern time. I was wide awake at 5:30a this morning. Load-in was not until 11a. Our truck was late so we didn't even start until 1p. Not a big deal, because they've given us plenty of time to setup. Band doesn't even arrive until next Monday. Um, I mean this coming Monday(Kristen). We floated speakers and set FOH. Amp racks and subs get set tomorrow.
I like the guys I'm working with so far. Mostly just met the audio crew which consists of Kevin, the other PA tech, Tom, stage guy, Roz, system tech, and I think his name is Jason, FOH tech. Oh and we have a guy helping us for just a couple of days, Peter. Not sure why he is here. Maybe his british accent.
So those of you who care we're hanging per side 12 K1 mains, 12 Kudo sides, 6 dv hang for frontfill. They don't want any frontfill on the lip of the stage. No flown subs, but there will be 3 sets of cardioid per side and then 5 sets of 2 SB28 along the front lip. Total subs = 32. They've already talked about doing what they call the orgasmatron. A sub configuration that directs sub energy in a specific direction. I'm very interested. The only thing I was upset not to use was K1subs and wished the dv were KARA, but oh well you can't have everything.
Well, no doing cocaine off a stripper yet. Haha. J/k mom. I feel I need some Doogie Howser music to play while I'm writing this. Next time...
Pretty cool, Andrew... I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures as I live the rocker life vicariously through you. lol
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeleteHad to go to wikipedia to figure out that FOH was front of house....
Now I can use that casually and impress people. Sounds like you're in for some real fun.
