Leg 2 is over and I'm back in KY currently. It was a good run. We had quite a bit of time to sight-see and took advantage of it. The sound engineer for the peppers is Dave Rat. They say he gets bored easily out on the road and likes to meddle. This run instead of meddling he decided to fill his time during the day with seminars for local sound geeks in whatever city we are in. Normally these are done the morning of a show day, in which we are all working. Since we had 2 days off in D.C. he held it on the second day off. Being at the right place and right time Nick and I got to sit in. It went about 4 hours with a 15 minute break. Very informative and not too technical. He's very open about sharing his techniques. Nothings a secret. He wishes someone would have shared with him what he knows now. I felt lucky to go, the rest of the crew, even non-sound people, were jealous.
We've had a lot of personnel changes with the PA techs. Tommy and I have been on since the beginning. Chuck and Manny were the other 2 techs on leg one but they were replaced by Phil and Brett. Nothing wrong, they just had other commitments. About 4 shows into this leg, Phil was having problems with his ear and decided to go home. He waited till we got the states and was replaced by Nick. Nick is one of the trainers for L-Acoustics. It was good having him around. I was able to pick his brain. Phil's doing a lot better. Antibiotics and pain meds did the trick.
I was supposed to pick up some Blink 182 dates in between Chili Pepper legs but drummer Travis Barker decided to have throat surgery. He doesn't even sing! Anyway I'm home for the week and half break. Looking for work this summer. Let me know if you got some. :)

In Montreal the band Rammstein was playing in the same arena the night before. We were able to get tickets and hang out at FOH. Their show is quite a... spectacle. Lots of pyro. This picture is them on a small stage at FOH. The bridge came down from the ceiling and allowed them to walk from the main stage to the small stage. Angry German music, but it was great. The audience was way into it.
Of course the lead singer wore angel wings with flame throwers at the tips.
So here is the sub configuration. This one is called a fan. Basically three end fire setups all using the same reverse sub. Works great for an ego riser too.
Sub placement has to be very precise for it to work properly. So we carry these frames to put them in the right place. The holes are just to cut down on weight.
Spent a day in the big apple. One of my favorites.
Had to see Grand Central Station Apple store. Tommy Brett and I had a great time. Brett's finger was hurting so he had to keep it elevated.
The new Freedom Tower under construction. Wanted to see the 911 memorial but it cost money and couldn't buy tickets there. Kinda lame.
Our hotel was in NJ so we had our own ferry that went directly to the hotel. Unfortunately leaving the city we got on the wrong ferry and ended up 4 miles away. Glad the hotel had a shuttle to pick us up.

Had to go to the Apple store again. The steps are made completely of glass, even the supports. Glad to say Brett decided to join the i-team here. Got himself a good ol' iPhone.
Brett and I had some good laughs at Tommys expense.
I convinced the guys to go on a duck tour. The driver dressed like a parrot was our tour guide around the city. The bus is also a boat. Here we are going into the water.
The Celtics played the night before. I guess they just leave the basketball floor lying around.
The hoops too.
We had 2 days off in Washington DC. Spent the day seeing the sights. Started at the Air and Space museum.

Archives and Records building. Got to see the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The D of I and the Bill of rights were pretty faded and mostly illegible. They were in a cool dark room with a bunch of security guards. I'm glad Nick knew they were in there. Oh yeah, no cameras allowed.
Aerialists rehearsing for a show on the clock tower of the Old Post office. Found out Donald Trump took ownership that day and is making it into a hotel.

Tommy loves iphone apps. There's an app called action movie. It takes your video and spices them up. Sorry Brett.
